Orchestras, Ensembles and Choirs at the Samuel Rubin Conservatory

The Samuel Rubin conservatory was founded in 1949 by Dr. Tzwi Rotenberg, a person of great vision and foresight, who managed to gather around himself a nucleus of professional classical music teachers, mostly Holocaust survivors, devoted to promoting musical education to the younger generation. As time went by, the conservatory grew larger, opened new programs and gave more opportunities to children in Haifa and its surrounding areas to acquire comprehensive musical tuition.

Due to our location in Haifa, a unique and inspiring situation has evolved, where 50% to 60% of our students are from the Arab sector, resulting in the bringing together and costudying of Jews and Arabs in virtually all group classes, spending their time with one another for the eminent sake of musical growth. It also became a place where new immigrant teachers, mainly from the former USSR during the 90’s, found an opportunity to work and fulfill their skills.

Over the years, we have taught many generations of students, some went on to become professional musicians while others – music lovers and enthusiasts. The Conservatory is acknowledged as a music school by the Ministry of Education, operates under its supervision and is approved to provide official Graduation Exams in Music.
